New favourite hangout spot.
Yeonnam-dong is the latest hotspot among youths in Seoul. Located close to Hongdae and Sinchon, this neighbourhood looks different from most. Many of the shops, cafes and restaurants here still use old signboards and fonts of yesteryears. Korean youths enjoy coming here to take pictures, relax in the old-style coffee shops as well as to check out some of the shops selling vintage goods. The cafes here are also mostly unique private businesses, meaning they make and design their own coffee menu.
Many of the shops are located around two major landmarks, the Dongjin Market and Donggyo-ro, a stretch of road filled with restaurants that open till late night.

On weekends and when the weather is good, you may even find outdoor flea markets along the alleys of Yeonnam-dong. There are also plenty of eateries here that serve American style breakfast and brunch.

How to get to Yeonnam-dong:
To get to Yeonnam-dong, simply exit from Exit 3 of Hongik University Station Line 2, and walk north for about 15 minutes. Alternatively, you can take the green Mapo 05 bus from Hongik University Station for a couple of minutes.
- Nearest subway station: Hongik University Station, Line 2
