Snow Sledding At Ttukseom Han River Park (뚝섬한강공원)

Snow sledding in the middle of the city.

Despite its cold, winter has traditionally been a peak season for tourism in Seoul, due in many parts to the plenty of winter activities tourists can partake in while in Korea. Do you know that besides travelling out of Seoul for skiing, there are also other snow-related activities you can enjoy within Seoul itself?

Located in eastern Seoul along the Hangang River, Ttukseom Hangang Theme Park is an amusement park of sorts popular with citizens and tourists alike. In summer, the theme park transforms into a mega swimming pool with surfing and other water activities. In winter, a giant snow sledding hill takes the place of the swimming pool and draws in visitors looking to play with snow right within Seoul itself.

Entrance to Ttukseom Snow Sledding Park costs only 6,000KRW per person. There is no limit to the number of times you can go onto the sledding hill. We recommend going on a weekday to avoid the crowd.

Besides sledding, visitors can also take part in other winter activities such as the catching of ice fishes! There is a separate fee to this activity, but you are free to bring home your catch, or even have them fried and eaten on the spot! Other activities available in the park includes amusement rides and reverse bungee jumping for the kids. There are also various food stores located in the compound itself for the quick energy refuel. The food court overlooks the Hangang River, providing visitors with a unique and beautiful winter view of the river from a vantage point.

Snow sledding is a fun activity for those who do not want to make the trip to the ski resorts, all of whom are located out of Seoul. It is also ideal for visitors who are not comfortable with skiiing, but would like to experience a snow activity while in Korea. There are other nearby attractions such as the COMMON GROUND pop-up store, which is made up of shipping containers. More of that will be covered in the next article!
